What's new in Business app 2.0
Business app 2.0 rebuilds the Arketa business app: a Home you can customize, a Home for instructors, a full checkout, roster actions, client tools, Shifts and Subs tabs, and tabs you arrange yourself.
Business app 2.0 is a rebuild of the Arketa business app. Owners and managers get a Home they can customize, instructors get a Home of their own, and your front desk can check clients in, sell, and manage clients without opening the dashboard.
Get the update
Business app 2.0 is an update to the app you already have. You don't need to download a new app.
- Open the App Store or Google Play on your phone or tablet.
- Find the Arketa business app and click Update.
Ask your team to update too. Until a team member updates, they keep the previous version and its features.
Business app 2.0 needs iOS 16.4 or later (iPhone or iPad), or Android 8.0 or later.

Home for owners and managers
Home shows metric cards for your studio. Pick a range at the top: 1W (the last 7 days), 4W (the last 4 weeks), MTD (month to date), or YTD (year to date). Each card compares the range to the period before it, and Today and Yesterday cards give you a quick read on the day. Click a card to see the details behind it.
| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Sales | Daily revenue |
| New leads | New client profiles |
| New memberships | Membership sign-ups in the range |
| Active memberships | Memberships active right now |
| Average purchase value | The average pricing option sale |
| Canceled memberships | Cancellations in the range |
| Intro offers purchased | Intro offers sold |
| Reservations | Total bookings |
| Retention | Returning clients |
| Revenue by class | Your top-earning classes |
| Visits | Checked-in reservations |
To choose your cards, click Customize on Home. Turn cards on or off and drag them into the order you want. At least one card always stays on. Your cards follow you to any phone or tablet you sign in on.
Transactions lists recent payments with a total for each day. Open a payment to see its details or send the client a receipt.
Home for instructors
Instructors get a Home built around their own week:
- Their stats: classes, clients on their rosters, fill rate, and hours scheduled.
- Up next: their next class and how many clients are booked.
- Your schedule: the classes they teach.
- Share your week: turns their upcoming classes into an image to post or send. Choose this week or next week, and customize the card before sharing.
- Quick actions: start a sale, add a client, or open the schedule, depending on their permissions.
- Clock in and Clock out, when your studio uses the time clock.
Owners and managers can switch to the instructor Home too. Go to Profile and turn on Show Home as instructor.
Schedule and class rosters
The schedule has list, day, and 3-day views, a line that marks the current time, and a button that jumps you back to now. Canceled classes stay on the schedule so you can still see them.
Open a class to see its roster. From the roster you can:
- Check a client in by clicking the circle next to their name.
- Open a booking by clicking the client. Anything that needs attention, like an unpaid booking, an unsigned waiver, or a missing phone number, is listed first so you can fix it.
- Press and hold a client for a quick menu: check in or reverse a check-in, resolve payment, send a waiver, text, call, or email the client, sell something, add a guest, add a note, open their profile, or cancel the reservation.
- See birthdays and injuries. An injury icon flags clients with an injury on file, and the booking shows the full note and the client's birthday.
- Manage the waitlist. Move a client from the waitlist into the class, or remove them from the waitlist. The app asks you to confirm before moving anyone in. A waitlisted client's row names the pack or membership they joined with, the same way a booked client's row does.
- Add clients and guests. When a class is full, choose whether to add the client anyway or put them on the waitlist. You can also add guests to a booking.
- Collapse the Canceled section to keep the roster short.
- Share link, Edit Class, or Cancel Class from the class menu. Share link opens the share sheet with the class's checkout page link.
- Request a sub for a class you teach.
When you add a client to a class or resolve an unpaid booking, you can use a pricing option the client already owns, sell them a new one right there, or add them as unpaid.
In the previous version, selling a new pricing option while booking showed "This feature is not available yet." In 2.0 you can sell it as part of the booking.
For appointments, the appointments calendar shows when each instructor is available, and you take payment for an appointment from the booking.
Checkout
The Checkout tab is a point of sale built for the app. Pick a client, add items, and take payment without leaving the app.
What you can sell:
- Retail products
- Packs and memberships
- Bundles and programs
- Appointment add-ons
You can also apply promo codes and gift card codes.
How clients can pay: the card on file, another saved card, a new card, cash, or account credit.
A cart can hold one membership or other recurring pricing option. When you choose a membership, its billing terms appear under the pricing option so you can go over them with the client.
Permissions. Checkout uses the Point of Sale permissions in Staff → Team → Roles & Permissions:
| To do this in the app | The role needs |
|---|---|
| See the Checkout tab | View Sales Screen |
| Complete a sale | Process Sales |
| Change item quantities | Change Quantities |
| Add a new card | Add Payment Methods |
Checkout uses a different permission than the previous version. If a team member had Checkout before and doesn't after updating, turn on Point of Sale → View Sales Screen for their role. See Why did a team member lose the Checkout tab after updating?
To sell a gift card, send a payment link, or change a price at checkout, use the point of sale in the dashboard.
Clients
From Clients you can:
- Browse your clients A to Z, or search
- Add a new client
- Add notes and manage tags
- See a client's reservation history and purchases
- Send a waiver by text message
- Text, call, or email the client
- Refund a payment to the client's card or to account credit. The app shows how much goes back as money and how much as credit.
Shifts and Subs
Shifts shows your studio's shift schedule. It appears once shift scheduling is turned on for your studio.
Subs puts class sub requests, shift swaps, and open covers in one place. Team members can request a sub for their class, claim a class someone else needs covered, or pick up a swap or cover. The app won't let anyone claim something that conflicts with their own schedule. See Sub management to set up how subs are approved.
Once a team member offers to cover a class or shift, they can't withdraw the offer from the app. A manager can decline it instead.
Inbox
Inbox keeps your group chats, SMS, and email in one place, as before. You can filter conversations and rename group chats.
Inbox appears when your studio has the Marketing Suite add-on and the team member's role has Inbox access.
Calls from your studio line
If your studio has the Phone Line add-on with calling turned on, your team can call clients from the app. Outgoing calls always show your studio's number, never the team member's own.
To answer calls to your studio number in the app:
- Go to Settings → Phone Number in the dashboard.
- Set Incoming calls to Answer in dashboard.
Calls ring on the team member's phone, labeled with your studio's name. A call that nobody answers goes to voicemail after 30 seconds.
Team members need Client Profile → Phone Calls in their role to make and take calls.
Arketa Agent
Ask Arketa Agent questions about your studio right from the app. Open it from the button on Home, or from Profile.
Arketa Agent appears for team members whose role has Reports access, once Arketa Agent is on for your studio and an owner or admin has accepted the AI terms.
Arrange your tabs
Each team member can set up their own tab bar. Open Profile (the Profile tab, or your photo at the top of Home), then click Tabs.
- Drag tabs into the order you want, and turn off any you don't use.
- The tab bar fits five tabs. When more than five are on, the rest move under More.
- Click Reset to default to go back to the original layout.
- A tab you can't use shows a lock and the reason: Permission required or Not enabled for this studio.
Your tab layout is saved on that phone. If you sign in on a new phone, it starts with the default layout.
On iPad and Android tablets, the app uses the extra space: Home shows two columns, and client lists open side by side with the client's details.
