WisePOS E terminal
Set up and use the Stripe WisePOS E card reader for in-person payments.
The WisePOS E is Stripe's smart countertop terminal — Arketa's supported hardware for accepting in-person card payments. It handles chip, swipe, contactless, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
What it does
- Chip, swipe, and tap (NFC) card payments
- Apple Pay and Google Pay
- On-screen display for client interaction
- Works on WiFi — no wired connection needed
- Runs on Android (plug-in power, not battery-powered)
[IMAGE TODO] Take a photo of the physical WisePOS E terminal on a countertop, plugged in and powered on. Show the front-facing screen and the card reader slot. Include the power cable to show it is a plug-in device.
Set up the terminal
- Purchase the terminal — see purchase a terminal
- Plug in the WisePOS E and connect it to your WiFi
- In Arketa, go to Point of Sale → Settings (or Settings → Terminal)
- Follow the prompts to pair the terminal with your account
- Test with a small transaction
Once connected, the terminal appears as a payment option in your POS checkout.
[VIDEO TODO] Record a short Loom video showing the WisePOS E terminal setup process: navigating to Point of Sale - Settings (or Settings - Terminal) in Arketa, pairing the terminal, and confirming the connection is successful. Show the terminal appearing as a payment option in the POS.
Using it at checkout
- Open the POS and add items to the cart
- Select Terminal as the payment method
- The total is sent to the WisePOS screen
- Client inserts, taps, or swipes their card
- Transaction completes and receipt is emailed
One terminal, multiple staff
The WisePOS connects to your Arketa account, not to a specific staff member or device. Any staff member can ring up a sale and send it to the terminal.
