Target specific recipients for broadcast emails
Use tags and segments to send broadcast emails to the right clients in Arketa.
Arketa's Marketing Suite lets you send broadcast emails to specific groups of clients using tags and segments. This guide covers how to set up each targeting method and choose the right one for your broadcast.
Tags vs. segments
Tags are manually applied labels for one-off or subjective groupings — for example, marking attendees of a specific event. Tags are static and require manual updates.
Segments are dynamic, rule-based groups that update automatically as client data changes. For example, you can create a segment for clients with active memberships or those who submitted a specific form.
Create and use tags
Apply a tag to client profiles
Identify the clients you want to target and manually apply a tag to their profiles — for example, "ClassPass" or "Workshop June."
Select the tag as your broadcast audience
When setting up a broadcast, choose the tag as your audience filter to target those clients.
Note: Newly created tags may take up to an hour to appear in the broadcast recipient filter.
Create and use segments
Go to Clients > Segments
Navigate to Clients → Segments in Arketa.
Define your segment conditions
Create a new segment and set conditions based on client attributes or behaviors — such as active pricing options, specific purchases, or form submissions.
Select the segment in your broadcast
Segments update dynamically, so clients who meet the criteria are always included. Use segments for ongoing or rule-based targeting, such as excluding trialing members or reaching active members only.
Send a broadcast to a targeted audience
Choose your audience
During broadcast setup, select either a tag or a segment as your recipient filter.
Send or schedule the broadcast
Only one segment can be selected per broadcast. If you need to target multiple segments, send separate broadcasts.
Note: Manual addition of individual recipients is not supported. Adjust your tags or segment rules to include the clients you want to reach.
